Born from a Love for Pets and Shaped by Real‑World Rescue, Startup, and Nonprofit Experience

Alexa’s path into the pet industry began with her first tech idea - a dating app for pet owners called Petico (a name she later learned was hilariously impossible to trademark). She eventually transformed it into a custom pet‑portrait e‑commerce store, her first real step into building digital products for pet lovers.

As her vision matured, she designed TrapperAid, a platform concept built to support Trap‑Neuter‑Return volunteers by helping them fundraise, find holding space, and connect with veterinary clinics. Though it wasn’t fully developed, the work gave her deep insight into the challenges rescuers face.

Her experience expanded through mission‑driven roles: working at the Sisters of St. Joseph in Brentwood, NY, where she saw how large nonprofits create impact, and later volunteering with Astoria Cat Rescue and helping build Cat Connections NYC - shaping its brand, website, fundraising, storytelling, and running day-to-day operations.

After years immersed in rescue work, nonprofit operations, and pet‑focused tech, Alexa realized she understood the pet industry from every angle - and that this is where she’s meant to stay.
